  • 14 Apr 2020
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Gratz Center (Room 4F), 126 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago

Registration

Due to COVID-19, the April 14 meeting described below ("Polish Your LinkedIn Profile: Free Help is Here!") will be put on hold and rescheduled for a later date. We have scheduled a webinar to take place on April 7 that will be very relevant to these times.

As we continue to serve our members and friends of IWOC in the safest, most productive way possible, please keep in mind the many resources IWOC offers that you can take advantage of. Please visit our General Resource page and Members Resource page at www.iwoc.org. On the latter, you'll find dozens of podcasts from previous meetings you can download and listen to in the quiet self-isolation of your own home! A great way to not only pass the time but to help sharpen your writing and business chops.

Thank you for understanding. We will keep you posted as to what's next.

Meantime, stay well and safe..

Board of Directors, IWOC.

************************************************

How long has it been since you updated your social media profile? Today, you can’t afford to let it sit with outdated, dusty information — because it’s the first place your reputation is judged. So this special April meeting is a collaborative effort where IWOC and C3 members and guests can help each other bring their online personas up to date.

We’ll start the evening off with a presentation from one of America’s best-known LinkedIn experts, Chicago’s own JD Gershbein. JD will update us on current best practices for LinkedIn and other business-focused sites, what users of freelance talent are looking for in profiles, and what you should and shouldn’t be revealing. As host of “The Electric Narrative” on YouTube and frequent contributor to TV and radio programs, JD always has interesting and important information to offer.

Then for the second half, IWOC writers will offer to help C3’s non-writers spruce up their online bios and elevator speeches. And C3’s celebrity photographer extraordinaire Victor Powell will be on hand to take a complementary professional digital headshot for IWOC writers and others who are making do with selfies.

Networking, with snacks and beverages, begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is free for C3 and IWOC members. Non-members pay $10 with online preregistration/payment or $15 at the door.

All attendees are welcome to join us for a buy-your-own dinner at a nearby restaurant after the meeting.
