Independent Writers of Chicago
Let's say you have a company, a service, or an event that you want the world to know about. How do you get the press to publicize it? With a press release, of course!
But how do you write a great release that will attract the media’s attention and increase your chances of getting coverage? That's the question.
Find out all the dos and don’ts at this press release crash course, where IWOC President Laura Stigler and IWOC parliamentarian and past president David Steinkraus speak from real-life experience. Laura Stigler is president of Shebang! Writing-2-Consulting, an advertising/marketing/ communications company. Journalist David Steinkraus specializes in science, medicine, the environment and photography.
They'll also cover what to do with your press release once it’s written. And if you have a press release that you’d like to have critiqued, bring it!
Networking, with snacks and beverages, begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:00 p.m.
The meeting is free for IWOC members. Non-members pay $10 with online preregistration/payment or $15 at the door.
All attendees are welcome to join us for a buy-your-own dinner at a nearby restaurant after the meeting.
This IWOC monthly meeting will be held in Room 4G at the Gratz Center, 126 E. Chestnut Street, adjacent to the historic Fourth Presbyterian Church (see map, below).
Discounted parking after 5:00pm is available (with validation coupon available at the meeting) at 900 N. Michigan Avenue.
