IWOC February Meeting

How to Succeed in Media Markets

Join IWOC-ers for our regular monthly evening of networking and learning as freelance writer and photojournalist Pete Bella, unit chair of Working Journalists, offers advice about how an independent freelance writer can succeed in modern writing markets. His topics will include:

  • How to compete for media assignments
  • Media-writing opportunities, including major market trends today
  • Which freelance business models work best
  • What are teh biggest challenges facing freelance writers
  • How to obtain press credentials
  • Key advice on ethical issues, conflicts of interest, competition, and getting paid
  • How Working Journalists, a freelancer's union, can help

Networking, with snacks and beverages, begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting is free for IWOC members (no need to register; you can simply show up). Non-members pay $10 with online preregistration/payment or $15 at the door.

All attendees are welcome to join us for a buy-your-own dinner at a nearby restaurant after the meeting.
