IWOC Meeting
Know Your Freelancer Legal Rights
Learn how to draft contracts that spell out the rights writers sell, as well as how to guarantee payments and press for payment when the recipients of your work do not pay as promised.
Our speaker is Thomas R. Leavens, a partner in the law firm of Leavens, Strand, Glover & Adler LLC who specializes in counseling and litigation concerning literary expression, new media, and intellectual property. In addition to the topics listed above, he will discuss implied copyright and identify when writers retain a copyright on their work even when they do not files with the copyright office.
Networking, with snacks and beverages, begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:00 p.m.
The meeting is free for IWOC members. Non-members pay $10 with online preregistration and payment or $15 at the door.
All attendees are welcome to join IWOC members at a buy-your-own dinner at a nearby restaurant after the meeting.
