IWOC Meeting

Reinventing Yourself

Join us as award-winning journalist, author, consultant, and educator Bob Yovovich offers his insights into the many emerging practices that create a convergence of content and context. He will address the need for writers to recognize the many ways in which the role of content has evolved and will continue to evolve and will focus on lessons he has learned about the implications that these changes have for writers.

In particular, Bob will share material based upon his recent extensive work that has addressed the impact of SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics [Big Data], Cloud) on the role of content and will explore such topics as:

  • The impact of Google, including a discussion of the declining importance of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • How and why Jeff Bezos, Amazon's founder, chose to concentrate on books first, before other merchandise
  • The impact of Youtube, LinkedIn, and other social Media
  • The evolving role of infographics

Networking, with snacks and beverages, begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting is free for IWOC members. Non-members pay $10 with online preregistration/payment or $15 at the door.

All attendees are welcome to join us for a buy-your-own dinner at a nearby restaurant after the meeting.
